Portland Queer Nightlife

A photo collection by Rachel Frichette

A glimpse into queer intimacy and the club kids of Portland: From rocking out on a crowded dance floor and experiencing the artistry of local drag, to meeting new friends during a 1:00 a.m. smoke break. These moments are not only expressions of queer joy but a reflection of what it means to have a group of people who uplift one another, no matter their identity.

In early 2025, I began photographing ‘Baddies Night’, a QTBIPOC dance party hosted by a close friend, Lyta Blunt. With continued support from the Portland queer community and collaboration with resident go-go dancers Tiny and Chrome, they have also produced additional parties under QT PDX Events, fostering a safe space that prioritizes queer and trans people of color. These parties give people a chance to experience closeness with their neighbors during a time when so much of our lives is online. While in these spaces, I’ve crafted relationships with forever friends and have had the privilege to explore my gender identity without fear of judgment. Portland’s club scene is more than just parties; it’s a community.
