hankycode magazine was born from a mission to uplift the queer community. Our name honors the hanky code tradition from the mid-19th century, when colored handkerchiefs signaled identity and desire. Like that historic practice of flagging, we're showing we're here—celebrating our rich queer past while fostering connection and community for the future.
